Accessibility statement

I want everyone who visits this site to be able to find their way around, see the work and get in touch, including by keyboard alone or with a screen reader. This statement describes what has been done to make the site accessible and which known limitations remain.

What this statement covers

This statement covers the public website shiransomech.co.il only, in Hebrew and English. It does not cover the private client galleries sent by personal link, or external services the site links to, such as Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.

Level of accessibility

The site is partially accessible. The adjustments follow Israeli Standard SI 5568 (based on WCAG 2.0 level AA), but the site does not yet meet every requirement of the standard. The known limitations are listed below.

The site was checked using a keyboard alone and with the VoiceOver screen reader on macOS.

What has been made accessible

• Full keyboard navigation, with a clear indicator on whatever has focus.
• A “Skip to content” link at the start of every page, so you can go straight to the content without tabbing through the menu.
• The mobile navigation menu opens, works and closes by keyboard, including closing with Escape.
• The gallery photo viewer opens by keyboard, is announced as a dialog, reads out each photograph’s description and position, closes with Escape, and returns focus to the photograph it was opened from. The arrow keys move between photographs in reading direction.
• The contact form: every field has a label, sending and success are announced to screen readers, and error messages appear in the page’s language and move focus to where you can fix them.
• If your device asks for reduced motion, the site turns off smooth scrolling, animations and transitions.
• Text contrast has been improved, with a darker gold used for text.
• The site is available in Hebrew (right to left) and English (left to right), and each is laid out in its own direction.

Known limitations

• Some photographs do not yet have a text description in Hebrew or English. I am still adding them.
• In some browsers, pressing Tab inside the photo viewer also visits the browser’s own toolbar before returning to the viewer. It never reaches the page behind it.
• The private client galleries have not yet been made accessible and are not covered by this statement.
