A Bar Mitzvah session outdoors or in the Hadera studio, one to three months before the event. At thirteen most boys do not enjoy being photographed, so the session starts from something he actually likes — football, a guitar, a bike, animals — rather than from standing in front of a camera. Photographs with parents and siblings can be part of it.

2801When should we photograph?
One to three months before the event, leaving time to edit, print and prepare whatever the party itself needs.
02He hates being photographed. What then?
That is the normal state of affairs at thirteen, and the session is built around it. We start from something he likes rather than from standing in front of a camera — a ball, an instrument, a bike, animals. After ten minutes he forgets there is a camera there, and that is where the good photographs come from.
03Where does it happen?
Outdoors, in the Hadera studio, or both. Outdoors usually works better for a boy this age: there is somewhere to walk and something to do, which takes the self-consciousness out of it.
04Should he bring clothes?
Two outfits he feels good in, and anything that belongs to him — a team shirt, an instrument, his bike. One of those is worth more than any prop in the studio.
05Can the family be photographed too?
Yes. Most of the session is him alone, and photographs with parents, siblings and grandparents can be added.
